Final 2013 Finish (B): "Migration" Quilt

11:20:00 PM

Still catching up with my posts with my finishes for 2013. This'll be my last 2013 finish :)

For my second final finish of 2013, I give you, "Migration":

Flying Geese, original design
fabric: Kona Snow + Kate Spain's "Serenade" line for Moda
I'm really happy with the orientation I finally decided upon:

It's a quilt that I had been working on for the better part of a year, and I had a bit of help from my bee sisters in the Color Bee Shocked bee.

I ripped the blocks apart multiple times, re-ordering them. I put together three, yes, three, completed quilt-tops before ripping each one of them out, finally coming up with this (fourth) orientation.

The fabrics are from the Kate Spain Serenade line paired with Kona Snow.

I had a lot of fun with the angles of this quilt and the improv nature of it. I love how it turned out.

I pieced a simple block-pattern back, with larger pieces of the Serenade line featured. The quilting shows up gorgeously.

The quilting was done by Melissa at Sew Shabby Quilting. I strategically chose a pattern that would off-set the triangular nature of the geese. I personally think it's gorgeous :)
