TGIFF: "Brown Bear, Brown Bear" Eye Spy Play/Tummy Time Mat

11:38:00 PM

I hope everyone is enjoying their Friday out there!

I have a quick link up to share today with TGIFF (Thank Goodness it's Finished Friday!) and today it's being guest hosted by Kelly @ My Quilt Infatuation. Thanks for being the hostess with the mostest today, Kelly! also linking up with Finish it Up Friday!

I have a small quilt finish to link up today; it's about 33" square, and it's a tummy time/play mat/eye spy game quilt (depending on the age of the baby - grows with the child!) to show you all. I have made four of these quilts now for my own babes and for other special babies in my life :) each one is a tiny bit different.

This one will be going to my sister in law, who is due in August. I'll enclose the board book for her (if you're not familiar with the book, where have you been?? I jest, I jest! it's a children's book with illustrations by by Eric Carle and written by Bill Martin Jr.

It was one of my favorite books as a child, and a favorite of my daughter's now. It's a great book, it teaches kids about colors and animals. We also own the Panda Bear, Panda Bear, Polar Bear, Polar Bear and Baby Bear, Baby Bearversions. And actually, come to think of it, we own 2 different copies of Brown Bear. It's popular around here.)

Anyway. I love our mat. It's small enough to fold up in the diaper bag when you're going out and about; it's big enough to plop baby down on for tummy time and not worry about your carpet getting thrown up on (the realities of a puker). And now that my daughter is two, we're learning our colors using the mat by playing eye spy. It's awesome.

I hope my sister in law loves it, too.

Happy Friday, and happy finishes, everyone!

  1. It's adorable, Erin! We're big fans of that book around here and what a treat it would be to have a coordinating quilt. Your SIL is lucky!

  3. This is a great gift idea for a baby Erin: So many people don't use quilts as quilts for babies now, so this is a perfect alternative.
