New project

12:04:00 PM

So a friend and I have decided to do a quilt block exchange; we decided on a primary fabric together, and then from there we're on our own. We'll each complete a total of 20 blocks, and exchange 10 of those with each other. We will each choose 2 block patterns unbeknownst to the other, so not only will the fabrics we've chosen be a surprise when we receive our packages of blocks but so will the patterns. We'll then assemble each of our quilts, again, without the other seeing each other's projects until the very end when we're finished.

It's going to be very interesting to see what the two of us come up with given that our basic building blocks will be exactly the same. It should be a lot of fun!

I've gone ahead and chosen my coordinating fabrics, with the primary fabric being the one in the middle of the image below.

I've also decided that one of the block patterns I'll create for the project will be Garden Fence blocks; I've done mock-ups below to see how I'd piece them:

So now I'm off to internet-search-land to try and fall in love with another block pattern; we decided as a team that the block must be constructed of strips only, no triangles or diamonds. This should be interesting!

More soon.
