Bees and swaps and borders, oh my!

7:53:00 PM

I've been a busy little bee!

Currently on my sewing table:

Clockwise, from left: Add a Border block swap; stack of purple
fat quarters for Color Wheel Swap, my fabric stacks to send out
for Color Bee Shocked Bee, and my November fabric for the Color
Bee (Anna's round)
So I'm off to the post office again Monday morning to send off these beauties, my contributions to the "Purple" group of the Color Wheel Swap:

... along with the rest of my mailings for the Color Bee Shocked bee.

I've also been plugging away at my apple core quilt in the Birds and Berries, and have finished the top of it - will be layering it on that gorgeous purple minky tomorrow or Monday.

In other news, that gorgeous Joel Dewberry Heirloom print I bought off of a very large online fabric store?

Ya. I'm NOT impressed.

Got an email 3 days later saying that the fabric, of which they said they had more than I needed in stock, was out of stock and they cancelled my order. It took me 3 months to decide on that fabric.

I'm pissed about it, actually.

Anyway, I've selected the same print, in another color way, and bought it at a store that said they had 56 yards in stock. Gah. So frustrating. My mum is coming into town in a couple of weeks and I wanted the curtains done and up before she got here. Might not happen now. Anyway, here's the print I decided on:
Marquis in Jade
As well, I ended up finally deciding on a Christmas fabric line for our new stockings that I've been meaning to make, for, oh, 5 years? haha. Now that our daughter is here I needed to make her one anyway, so it's time for a full-out revamp.

I picked up a fat quarter stack of each of this fabric:

...from the Fat Quarter Shop. Hint: I'm going to attempt English paper piecing. Eep. I've also sketched out a pieced snowflake design I hope will work. Fingers crossed they both work....

Happy sewing everyone!

  1. Hate to say it, but I like that colorway of the curtain fabric WAY better. :)

And I love Christmas fabric. It is my intention to make a reversable Christmas/Thanksgiving table runner once I have a nice long rectangular table. That will probably be a long time hence, but it's on my list.
