My Favorite Things Giveaways: Day 1 - AURIFIL!
7:00:00 AMWelcome to the first ever Sew at Home Mummy "My Favorite Things" themed giveaways!
I'm so excited about this line-up I've got for you all - these giveaways will run daily from December 1-4, with each day being sponsored by my FAVORITE companies.
I really do take serious consideration when taking on sponsors here at Sew at Home Mummy. I never promote products or companies I don't believe in and use myself, and I don't ever suggest products I'm not absolutely in love with.
So. That said. Have you ever seen Oprah's "Favorite Things" week? You know, where she gives her audience cars/cookbooks/fabulous trips/kitchen gadgets/{insert fabulous gifts here}?
I always wished I was sitting in that audience.
I thought to myself - how fun would it be to have a series of giveaways here to kick off the month of December?
So I contacted some of the wonderful companies who sponsor me, and, in the case of today's giveaway, who's products I love SO much I just had to contact the boss at Aurifil and see if he'd mind sending me some stuff to give away to all of my readers.
(THANK YOU TO MR. VERONELLI AT AURIFIL!!)
Have you ever used Aurifil thread?
If not, where have you been?
Ha ha ha. I jest! I jest!
(no. seriously. If you don't win one of these packages, please, for the love of all things quilty, treat yourself to one of these spools. I bet you never go back).

I personally use their 50wt and 12wt most frequently. The 50wt is absolutely wonderful for piecing - it has little to zero lint, and because of its finer weight, I change my bobbin so much less frequently than other 50wts. Despite being a finer thread, I don't find any difference in tensile strength compared to other brands, and, because it's cotton, it doesn't tend to 'slip' out of the ends of seams when I'm piecing like a poly 50wt would (in my experience).

And - I use it in my machine. I don't hand stitch anything if I can help it. I'm
a) a horrible hand-stitcher
b) terribly impatient
...so this 12wt goes nicely on the top spool pin, a 50wt in the bobbin, a TopStitch 90/14 needle in the machine, and away I go!
Okay!
Enough of the jibber jabber! On to the giveaways!
FIVE lucky winners will walk away with some super fabulous Aurifil goodies!!
Grand Prize:
12 spool pack of "Botanical" colorway!
Prize 2:
Neutrals sample pack, floss, and Filato Lana 12 color card!
Prize 3:
6 full-sized spool Aurifil Sample Pack in varying neutral weights
Two gorgeous spool sample packs in blues and reds, varying weights!
Prize 5:
Aurifil 50wt Color Card
Botanics 10-spool 50wt pack threads
So! How do you win?
More than one option to win:
each of these are completely optional - you can do as many or as little as you like!
1. Leave a comment below telling me:
if you won a trip to the Aurifil factory and headquarters in Italy, and you could bring home anything you like from their factory, what would you bring home?
3. If you are on Instagram, you can share this image below with the hashtag
#myfavoritethingsaurifil
for a separate entry. Please - no need to comment here that you've shared - just post it on your feed with the hashtag and I'll know to count that entry!
Fine print:
GOOD LUCK EVERYONE!
And thank you again to Aurifil for sponsoring such a lovely giveaway!

I would bring home a case of every thread they made. :) They have such great lines of threads and the colors are so vivid.
ReplyDeleteI always enjoy reading your blog and thanks for the opportunity to participate in the give away! :)
Tom
I also love Aurifil and wanted to say thanks for this giveaway. So generous of Alex, who I would be tempted to take home because you said "anything"! But as a consolation prize, I would bring home every shade of Aurifloss that they make. Who can resist those little wooden spools and an Italian accent?!? 😚💕
ReplyDeleteA spool in every colour.
ReplyDeleteI follow on Bloglovin. Thanks for the giveaway.
ReplyDeleteI would be happy with any gift pack I could carry out! The only problem being that if I were at their headquarters, I may never want to leave! Thanks so much for the generous giveaway!
ReplyDeleteI follow on Google friends, Bloglovin and Instagram (joycebspaulding). Thanks again!
ReplyDeleteWhat an AMAZING giveaway! I absolutely love Aurifil. Alex sent me some thread a while back and I've never gone back! It's so fabulous, and NEVER breaks, and makes next-to-no fuzz in my machine. I would SO love to win the grand prize, especially, since I just added some sweet Botanics to my stash. BUT I'd love to win ANY Aurifil! Golly, if I went to their factory, I'd love to take home a rainbow collection of big spools, or some giant cones of a range of greys (my favorite for all-purpose piecing and quilting). If they were feeling SUPER generous, I'd take home a spool of each color! One can dream! kitty.wilkin at gmail

ReplyDeleteI would want everything, of course. But if it could only be one thing, it would be a large cone of the multi coloured grey 50wt cotton. It's perfect for piecing everything!

ReplyDeleteI'm curious about machine sewing with the 12 weight thread. I have a Pfaff machine and tried once to use a heavy weight thread of a different brand and my machine just would not do it.
I'm guessing I can't bring the factory home! So a couple suitcases full of thread is about all I could wish for?!

ReplyDeleteBring home from the factory? Don't you mean "set up home" in the factory? LOL! No seriously, I would love to have as many colour charts as it would take to use as wallpaper in my sewing room. One wall with the colour strips back to back... Scrumptious!!!
ReplyDeleteAnd of course lots and lots of spools of thread... Like the rest of us!

Yes, I've heard of it many times, but don't understand what's so great about it...so I guess I need to win some to give it a try! If I visiting their Italian factory, I'd smuggle out a tall, dark Italian male---with his pockets just full of Aurifil thread!

ReplyDeleteWould bring home two of every color to share with my amazing quilting buddies! What an amazing adventure! :O)
ReplyDeleteI love factory tours so that might actually be enough. Being in Italy might also be enough! But no, I am completely in love with Aurifil thread, and would have to bring home a nice assortment of colors and weights. I haven't tried the heavier weights yet.
ReplyDeleteGreat giveaway, thanks and I would take home one of EVERYTHING!

ReplyDeleteI was lucky enough to travel to Italy to see artists' paints being made. I would love to do the same with the threads. I would try to bring home all I could carry! Lots of weights and colors. Values from dark to light. Neutrals. Blues, teals, purples, magentas and on across the rainbow. I would want all the thread on display so that I could enjoy looking at it.
ReplyDeleteOne of every color and enough neutrals so I would never run out!

ReplyDeleteI would bring home a spool in every color.
ReplyDeleteI believe I would take the (apparently unoriginal) route of bringing home one spool of each beautiful color they make, in each weight. I would then challenge myself to use each thread in a project, which would undoubtedly stretch me, color-wise, project-wise, and in terms of creativity. That's kind of the Aurifil way, right?
