The "Classic meets Modern QAL" at Sew at Home Mummy

3:42:00 PM

Hi all!

As promised, here is a little more information about my upcoming quilt along. We'll start January 1!

General Gist:
At the beginning of each month, I'll post instructions here on my blog (and email those instructions to you if you sign up to receive emails from me (see below)) on how to create a classic quilt block. Your challenge will be to put a modern spin on that block pattern. I'll post my own examples of my interpretation of the block, and then you run with it!

At the beginning of the following month I'll host a link up party where you can post a photo of your block to share with others participating in the QAL.

Flickr Group:
I'd love for you to post your creations in the Flickr group, as well! Let's share them with the world.

Fabric Requirements:
A rough estimate per 12.5" block is about one fat quarter; so, if we're making 12 blocks estimate about 2 1/2 yards of colored fabrics and another 2 yards of white or cream fabric (I'll be using Kona Snow for my examples). (this excludes fabric for backing)

See you all January 1!

  2. Cool idea! I've been thinking a lot about the mix of traditional and modern and what that would be - i prefer the term classic! Looking forward to it!

  3. I'm off to buy fabric on Friday and would love to join the quilt along. I'm brand new to blogging (first short post yesterday), just learnt how to grab a button, and almost as new to quilting.
