a backside of a King...

8:05:00 AM

Get your mind out of the gutters, readers.

Tee hee.

I've been busy working on the backside of the king-sized quilt I finished last week. Busy, busy.I decided to put a little bit of foundation piecing on the back using some beautiful Joel Dewberry Noting Hill I had kickin' around.

Blocks are done:

...and Tuesday I managed to get the backside pieced, de-linted, de-stringed, and last night packaged up to go to the long armer.

In my delusional creative state I thought that I'd be able to quilt {the Beast} with my home machine.

HA!

Cray-cray. Right?

Now to plug away at the binding while I wait for my package to return.

Today my lovely husband is going to look after the kiddies so that I can sneak down to the basement and get a bit of 'me' time.

'Me' time today consists of sewing for others, but still.

On the agenda: crib sheets.

A friend has asked me to make some for her, and I thought, hey, why not make a few for my daughter (and one for my son!) too? Look at this cute monster flannel I found at Jo-anns:
prewashed and on my ironing table now!

So!

As I near completion of my first 2014 project, a King-sized quilt no less (but in all fairness, started it in 2013)...which of my next UFO's should I tackle? I've been plugging away at my hexie ombre quilt:
... and I thought I had the layout decided upon for that one but now I'm back to the drawing board...I'm still creating triangles so there's time to decide on that...this has been a great in-front-of-the-tv project - feels like I'm accomplishing something other than rotting my brain.

Anywho.

Maybe I can put this conundrum out to my readers.

I have this gorgeous jelly roll of moda's Coquette:

Over Christmas I managed to make it out to my LQS for a minky sale of epic proportions. (I won't even post how much I paid for it, I think I'd get virtually smacked). I know I want to make a quilt for my little girl out of the Coquette Jelly Roll, and I thought I'd back it in a butter yellow minky.

Now for the problem.

I don't know what to do with the front. I can't find a jelly roll quilt pattern that really speaks to me.

HELP! I'd love to hear some ideas, readers. I really would! Pretty please? :D

  5. I absolutely love that jelly roll. As I said I am new to quilting so I don't have any lines of fabric but if that is still available at my lqs then that's the one to start with. Thank you for all your help with the no-reply situation. I think I have fixed it.

  6. I'm not much help with Jelly Roll ideas...I've only bought one and made a sting quilt with it. I'll look forward to seeing what you decide on :o) Hope you had an enjoyable time sewing today while your husband minded the kiddos.

  7. Your quilt is going to be beautiful! Cluck. Cluck. Sew has a pattern called "Sugar Dish" that is made with a jell roll. It would be adorable for a little girl. http://cluckclucksew.bigcartel.com/product/pdf-pattern-sugar-dish I have a roll of Coquette that I plan to use for the "Shortcake" pattern which is cute too. Enjoy your sewing day!
