The Marvel Avengers Quilt

9:29:00 AM

This week marked my little munchkin's 3rd birthday.

The kid is absolutely crazy about comic books - more specifically, Marvel comic books, and even more specifically - The Avengers.

He moved to a big boy bed a few months ago as he had outgrown his toddler bed, and the poor kid didn't have a twin-sized blanket until his birthday a few days ago, because of course, I had to make him one!

I designed this quilt myself, and it was a lot of fun to make:

Perfect boy's super hero room, not too over-done. Features custom made Marvel Avengers quilt by Sew at Home Mummy. Super cool boys room rug! would hide the stains. Custom IKEA hack curtains, looks easy - add panel to top of blackouts.

Rug by Mowhawk*

it features all of the (current) Avengers symbols; I also made the two throw pillows on the bed from some Marvel Avengers comic book panel fabric I found on Etsy.

On the quilt I used Connecting Threads' Mirage line of basics to give it that grungy, dirty look; ThermOWeb's HeatNBond Lite* on the symbols; and I had a bunch of jelly roll strips left over from several different projects in matching colors - so the binding ended up being a scrappy, colorful finish.

The super cool, sure to hide the stains rug I found on Amazon here*. Love the no-slip grip backing and the low pile on this rug. Perfect for a boy's room.

The curtains are an IKEA hack I did at the last minute, for sort of selfish reasons. They're blackout curtains (very similar to these ones on Amazon*). And let me tell you, he's sleeping better. We got an extra hour out of the little guy this morning. I used the same Avengers comic book panel I used above for the throw pillows and added panels to the blackouts:

I'll write a quick hack post in the coming days with how I tackled the curtains. More on that to come.

In the meantime, another quilt done, another happy customer! And a big happy birthday to my super big boy - we love you!
