Bella Skill Builder - May - Flying Geese

4:00:00 AM

Wahooo! It's MAY people! Can you believe it? We're already in the fifth month of the year. Where is the time going?! My kid finishes preschool this month. (insert sobbing mess of a mother here)

As one of their advertising partners, I’m participating in The Fat Quarter Shop’s Moda Bella Skill Builder Quilt Along, and May’s block was a LOT fun and SUPER quick and easy. If you're just tuning in, you should join in the fun! The patterns are free!

The pattern is available on the first of each month on the Jolly Jabber, and there’s a kit for the quilt along available here if you like!

Here is the palette that got me started/inspired:

…and here’s what that looks like in Bella (from Moda) solids:

…I decided to add a pop of orange to the mix, just a little, to give a tiny bit of visual interest, so I added the Melon in. I did add in a Christmas Red to get an even darker red for an ombre look for this month's blocks. Here are my blocks from the previous months:

And, without further adieu, my blocks for the month of May!
This month's block required the use of the Quilt in a Day Flying Geese Ruler and it was really easy to use!

Some tips for this month's block you might find useful -

- make sure to snip your seams deep enough so that you can press your seams apart well

make sure to check out the Fat Quarter Shop’s You Tube Page (here) for their video tutorial on these blocks.

This block was a lot of fun, and I can’t wait to see everyone else’s blocks and color palettes, and of course for May’s block!

Thanks to the Fat Quarter Shop for such a fun quilt along. Make sure to visit the Jolly Jabber today to see all of the other participant’s blocks and to see what they’ve been up to. And remember you can pin all of the pretty blocks on Pinterest from the hop today for future reference, I love seeing how all of the different bloggers interpret the blocks!

Are YOU participating in the quilt along?

Stay tuned for more fun!
