Have your say: Beautify your Blog - a 12 week tips & tricks series

12:30:00 AM

Alright all!

I've decided to go ahead with a 12-week series on prettying up your blog - and I need your
help.

Which topics would you like to see covered with respect to blog aesthetics? I can't guarantee that I'll be able to cover every topic suggested, but I can try.

And I will preface the series with this: I'm a Blogger Blogger, through and through. Meaning, I am unfortunately not familiar with Wordpress blogging platform - so, a lot of the specifics of the tutorials I'll be generating will be Blogger specific, but, some of the tutorials will be about blogging in general.

I'd also like to say: I'm not a professional blogger. I don't have formal training with graphic design or HTML. BUT. I have been blogging for many years, here and on other private blogs, I am self-taught and everything you see on this blog has been done by myself with a little bit of elbow grease. Finger grease, really ;)

If you're interested in participating, this is your chance to have your say.

So! What type of topics would YOU like to see covered? And be as specific as possible!

  2. I'm new to Blogger so just some basics would be great like inserting links to other pages/blogs, creating a banner with text and images to name a couple of items. I'm very excited about this series. Thanks'

  3. Grab a button design; Set up a page to include blog posts of a certain label or category (explain difference between a label and a category); Linking individual pics in a collage to a specific post (can this even be done?). I am self taught as well..so this is awesome. Thanks for sharing your knowledge...I have used a couple of your blogging tutorials in the past.

  13. Okay so my first question was answered a blogger blogger, awesome me too, how do you get rid of the B at the top of your blog? Your "pages" are so pretty, how did you do it? And the signature at the bottom, plus maybe how do you get sponsors, do you go out and ask, or are they coming to you. Big Hugs for doing this.

  16. Not sure if info on sponsors fits within the scope of this series, but I would love to know where to start there. What are they looking for in blogs they sponsor, etc (maybe a guest post by a sponsor?). Also how do I make a button for others to put on their blogs? Can't wait to see what else you share. I'm pretty sure most of it will be stuff I'm wondering about!

  17. I would love a step by step of how to put two blog buttons next to each other horizontally, instead of one row. Looking forward to this series!

  18. I'm interested in how to size photos for your header. It seems to be pot luck as to what size the header turns out when I change it. I have sometimes used mosaics for my header which I like, but again how can I determine the size of it for my header?

I also like the idea of having my own custom made background to my page using one of my photos. How do I do that myself?

At the moment I only have one extra page on my blog. I intend using more. How would I go about putting an introduction at the top of each of these pages that stays there?

There's probably loads that I would find useful. (I've thought of and added more as I've written this to my original header suggestion). Like the signature at the bottom of the post, the sizing of photos down my sidebar. Perhaps info on how to generally improve computer skills and taking it further.

Whatever you decide on I'm sure it will prove to be very useful for those of us not skilled on the use of the computer. Thank you for offering this opportunity.
